Last week I taught a mark-making workshop. We started off with very quick drawings of a still life set up. Drawing for 5 minutes, 3 and 1! We drew with sticks, drew as though we were shading around an object and with white chalk on black paper. The next word was frightened. I did gestural marks in charcoal and moved the charcoal around the page a lot. This was done by a student using a mix of sponging with different strengths of ink and also using a brush.

On Saturday 8th August, Sketch That visited Kirkstall Abbey to draw and sketch and photograph the riuns of the Medieval Cistercian. The weather was very hot, and lots of drawing got done.

Small team, big plans, creating and coworking. Monday, 2 November 2015. Good news from a dairy farm! Last weekend I went to the Pex Tenement Farm open day on the hillside above Todmorden. The weather was unseasonably warm and the sunshine made the colours of the fields and trees even more stunning. It was so good to see a working farm, cows outside enjoying the lush grass. And happy pigs waiting to enjoy some whey and left over cheese. I bought some delicious organic cheese, Camembert watch out.
